Turning Toward Grief Parent Retreat

A Collaboration with MaxLove Project

November 15 @ 4:30 pm November 17 @ 11:30 am

Connect with a community of bereaved parents. Share your child’s story and learn new healthy ways to grieve.

Our vision at Rett’s Roost is to cultivate a community of families pursuing a path of healing through shared experiences of connection, joy, and reflection. For this retreat, we are teaming up with MaxLove organization for this retreat in order to be able to offer 7 online sessions prior to meeting in Maine at Riverwinds in November. The online pre-work and in-person retreat will offer both reflective release and hopeful perspective to parents that have lost a child to cancer or a similar disease. The goal is to bring together a group of empathetic friends that understand the plight of being a parent that has lost a young child and to access methods of healing together.

The in-person retreat runs from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon at a beautiful farmstead in Saco, ME. We will offer supportive, therapeutic activities to connect with others and to heal within. Our hope is that you leave feeling like you took some time to honor your child, while at the same time taking care of your broken heart.

Each couple will have their own bedroom (some single moms may have to share a large room). There is a small indoor lap pool and exercise room available and we will have the opportunity to connect with horses on the property. Rett’s Roost staff and volunteers will be providing delicious, healthy meals and snacks. We’ll be offering grief support, yoga, art, reiki, and sound therapy for both parents and children. Most importantly, we’ll have time to connect over our loss.

Do we qualify? To attend this retreat, your child must have died under the age of 21 of cancer or a similar childhood-related illness (parents of older children may still qualify if illness started in childhood). All applicants must also have participated in MaxLove’s online program. Please contact us at info@rettsroost.org us to sign up for Cohort 3. Travel expenses will not be covered for this retreat. All lodging, food, and activities once you arrive will be paid for by Rett’s Roost.

DEI:  Rett’s Roost retreats are nondenominational. We act, and ask our participants to act, without discriminating against any person or organization because of their race, age, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or religious belief.
