Behold the Cold Polar Plunge

March 2 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

The 4th Annual ‘Behold the Cold’ Polar Plunge in support of Rett’s Roost Retreats will be taking place at a new location this year!

Join us on 3/2 at 11am at Wells Harbor to plunge into the Webhannet River in support of Rett’s Roost’s mission of healing and hope!

You can plunge remotely (in any body of cold water at any time) or in-person at our new, safer location on March 2nd at 11am. We will take the dip together at 11:30. If the weather is too extreme, we will gather instead one week later on March 9th at 9:30am (plunge at 10am).

Registration Fee: $15 to help cover the cost of this event

Suggested Fundraising: In order to reach our fundraising goal of $30,000, we are asking all participants to create their own crowdfunding page to share with their social networks and attempt to raise $222 in honor of Rett. It’s hard to believe, but on 2/22 this year, Rett will have been gone for ten years.

Can’t make the plunge, but still want to do something?
You can support one of our plungers instead!

Don’t miss this fun event–your bravery will match that of kids facing cancer treatment and their courageous families!

Thank you to these amazing sponsors for our event!

Why would I ever!!??

If you haven’t yet heard of the benefits of submerging one self into freezing cold water as a form of therapy, then let me share, because at Rett’s Roost we love to promote self-care and easy, inexpensive ways to therapeutically support our wellbeing during trying times. You may know of athletes that take cold water baths. This “shocking” therapy is shown to benefit many ailments and diseases, chronic pain, fatigue, and mitigate anxiety and depression (see Wim Hof method and WebMD’s endorsement). We know how long winter can feel in Maine, and to maintain our sanity, it’s imperative to embrace the cold and dark months of the year just as much as we treasure our Maine summers.

That is why we think ‘Behold the Cold’ is the perfect annual fundraiser for Rett’s Roost. It’s part of our mission to use nature to heal and to be fully present and aware of both the sorrow and the beauty all around us.
