Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved some of our original program funding for multi-family retreats to individual family trips. Your family will be provided with a 2-3 night stay at the setting of your choice, a stipend for gas and groceries, a massage appointment for each adult, and a small gift. To qualify, you must have a child that was diagnosed with cancer or a child that died under 20 years old. You must be living within driving distance to southern Maine, or be willing to purchase your own airline tickets. Families that have attended a Rett’s Roost retreat in the past may apply, but those that received a free Rett’s Roost individual family trip already may not.

ATTENTION: THESE TRIPS ARE CURRENTLY FULL. WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE WAITING LIST. THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE WE WILL HAVE A COUPLE CANCELLATIONS. ALSO, IF YOU APPLY NOW, YOU WOULD BE NOTIFIED FIRST NEXT YEAR.

LITTLE RIVER FARM – Lebanon, ME
May 28-30, Jun 18-21, Jul 30-Aug 2
The Farm at Little River is a working farm in Lebanon, Maine owned by Beecher Grogan, who has 20 years of experience supporting children and families in the childhood cancer community. Set on 11 private acres of pasture and woodlands along the Little River in rural Maine, the farm offers a welcoming, rustic 2nd story apartment in an early 1800’s farmhouse. The farm is home to a host of friendly farm animals who love to visit with families, including oxen, horses, goats, bunnies, dogs, cats, ducklings, and a flock of chickens. The Little River is shallow and wide- the perfect place for picnics, wading, picking wildflowers, building fairy houses, and catching minnows and frogs. See more pictures and amenities here (but do not book through Airbnb). The apartment is suitable for a family of 6 or less, ages 4 and up. There is a lake nearby for swimming and kayaking, and Ogunquit Beach is half an hour away.
SHILO FARM – ELiot, ME
Jul 30-Aug 2, Sept 10-13 (2 FAMILIES One Weekend)
Our second Farm Stay is at Shilo Farm in Eliot, ME. This magical place has been the site of several of our multi-family retreats. You can stay in the beautifully decorated Barn Apartment or Nest Apartment on this exquisitely manicured property (do not attempt to book on Airbnb). In September we have space for two families at once–in case you met a family during treatment or bereavement that you’d like to spend a weekend with. Each space sleeps a family of 5 max. Shilo Farm is just a few miles from the bustling downtowns of Portsmouth and Kittery with amazing restaurants and other coastal tourist sights. Wood-fired pizza and yoga with the Shilo community are available here.
Rett’s Roost Heartquarters – Ogunquit, ME
June 10-13, June 21-23, Jul 11-14
Choose our Ogunquit Beach stay located one mile from one of the top 10 beaches in America according to Trip Advisor. Clean, cool, Maine saltwater always refreshes the soul. The 2-bedroom, 1 bath apartment is located on a quiet street on the bottom floor of a large home and sleeps up to 7. The backyard is expansive with a play-set for young ones, a meditation labyrinth, and plenty of room to explore. Head to the bustling downtown for good eats and souvenirs. Meander along Marginal Way, a gorgeous cliff walk along the sea. This apartment is available for larger families for a 2-3 night stay (do not attempt to book on Airbnb).
DUCK PUDDLE Campground – Nobleboro, ME
CHOOSE YOUR OWN DATES
Another one of our beloved retreat locations, Duck Puddle Campground offers these comfortable yet rustic cabins to our families. Gaze out to Lake Pemaquid or borrow a kayak or canoe to paddle out for some peace. The cabins do have a full bathroom and kitchen and a space heater (cabin is not insulated). Dates are very flexible at this point for 2-3 night stays. Note that this is a large campground that is quite busy during the middle of the summer, so might not be ideal if you are looking for a quiet family retreat. If your kids enjoy fun camp activities though, this place is so much fun.
