SUMMARY:Yoga For Grief
DESCRIPTION:Yoga East\, Kittery\, ME and on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoga is the body and heart-centered work we need to do to move grief and trauma through our psyche\, leaving behind just pure love and gratitude for the person you lost.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Deana Cavan\, RYT from Rett’s Roost and Michelle Verdi\, RYT from Yoga East for an in-person donation-based class for the grieving body. We welcome all levels\, including beginners to yoga\, and all grievers\, not just bereaved parents.  \n\n\n\nIn the first part of the class we will incorporate readings\, an offering to our loved ones\, meditative exercises\, and gentle body movement. In the second half of the class Michelle will offer reiki during a led Yoga Nidra meditation led by Deana. \n\n\n\nThis practice is meant to be restorative and spriritual\, allowing you to reclaim your breath and appreciate the love for your beloved that still resides inside you. Yoga brings clarity to the often inaccurate and self-deprecating thoughts that surround our loss. And it opens our hearts up for love and gratitude to fill in the broken places. Reiki helps to clear the energetic blocks that hold us back from true healing. \n\n\n\nIf you lost a child\, this class is free. If you’ve had another type of loss\, please make a donation of at least $22 on our website. We will also accept cash\, check\, and venmo at the yoga studio.  \n\n\n\nThis class will take place on November 19th from 6-7:30pm EDT at Yoga East in Kittery\, ME and online. Space is limited in-person so please sign up online. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga for Moms & Teens
DESCRIPTION:A fun evening at Wells Harbor learning how to take your yoga balance to the next level.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMost people have at least tried yoga\, and some have tried stand-up paddle (SUP) boarding\, but who’s done both at one time?! This therapeutic activity sounds tough\, but we promise it doesn’t hurt to fall off a SUP board. Most people find their balance easily\, and once you are surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the harbor\, with birds swooping overhead in the gorgeous late afternoon light\, you’ll feel a deep peace wash over you. \n\n\n\nCome connect with other moms and teens that have experienced childhood cancer and child loss. Open your heart with deep\, long breaths\, and feel your strength and confidence grow. This is a beautiful experience that you and your teen will not forget. If you don’t have a teen child\, you can still attend! \n\n\n\nWe’ll spend about an hour on the water\, then head over to the pavilion for a lovely picnic dinner. Space is limited\, so sign up soon… \n\n\n\n\nSign up

SUMMARY:One Mission Open to Healing Family Grief Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Rolling Ridge Retreat Center\, North Andover\, MA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExperience a meaningful week with others that understand your loss. Open yourself and your family up to healing grief in new ways. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored by:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt Rett’s Roost\, we show people ways to experience moments of joy & gratitude amidst their grief. While we cannot hope to relieve your grief in just a few days\, our goal is to change your course toward healing even if you cannot yet see how that might be possible. We hope you leave feeling less alone in this lonely world of child loss\, with tools in your back pocket and friends to call on for when you enter those dark spaces of grief. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect: Rett’s Roost will be hosting up to 8 families at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center from Saturday through Wednesday\, providing nearly four full days of therapeutic support and connecting with others. \n\n\n\nPrior to the retreat\, parents will meet on zoom for a story-sharing session in May or June. This allows people to feel more comfortable coming together in-person in the summer already having met online. \n\n\n\nBesides plenty of time to relax at the retreat\, we offer activities that allow you to share with others and heal within. The agenda will include grief support\, yoga\, art\, and music for both parents and children. Also\, get a massage\, energy treatment\, and have professional family portraits taken. Kids activities are provided by Sage’s Entertainment\, Curious Creatures\, Ironstone Farm\, and other wonderful collaborators. \n\n\n\nAt Rolling Ridge\, each family will have their own bedroom and bathroom. A handicap-accessible room is available–please request early. The Rolling Ridge staff will be providing delicious\, healthy meals & snacks in their dining room. \n\n\n\nDoes my family qualify?  For this retreat\, we will accept up to 8 families that have lost a child under 20 to cancer or other chronic medical illness. We also are now opening up our retreats to families that lost a child (6 months to age 19) suddenly that live within 2 hours drive of our heart-quarters in Ogunquit\, ME. There is no restriction on the amount of time since your child’s death. Our retreats are best suited for children between the ages of 4-16\, however\, we do welcome families with older and younger children. Unfortunately\, we cannot accept parents that lost their only child or only have surviving children older than 18 at this retreat (please see our parent only retreats in April and November). Limited travel scholarships are available by request. \n\n\n\nDEI: Rett’s Roost retreats are nondenominational. We act\, and ask our participants to act\, without discriminating against any person or organization because of their race\, age\, nationality\, gender\, sexual orientation\, or religious belief. \n\n\n\nCheck out more pictures from last years’ retreats at Rolling Ridge:2021 Photos\, 2022 Photos\, 2023 Photos\, 2024 Photos \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease know that our retreats do fill quickly\, feel free to reach out if you have any questions before you apply. \n\n\n\n\nAPPLY NOW

You may know of athletes that take cold water baths. This “shocking” therapy is shown to benefit many ailments and diseases\, chronic pain\, fatigue\, and mitigate anxiety and depression (see Wim Hof method and WebMD’s endorsement). We know how long winter can feel in Maine\, and to maintain our sanity\, it’s imperative to embrace the cold and dark months of the year just as much as we treasure our Maine summers. \n\n\n\nThat is why we think ‘Behold the Cold’ is the perfect annual fundraiser for Rett’s Roost. It’s part of our mission to use nature to heal and to be fully present and aware of both the sorrow and the beauty all around us. \n\n\n\nCheck out this video of our 1st Polar Plunge in 2022!

SUMMARY:Yoga For Seasonal Anxiety & Depression
DESCRIPTION:Wintering in a cold climate is a practice\, just like yoga. If you don’t pay attention\, your mood can easily turn to gloom and doom\, and life can start to feel untenable. Taking care of one’s self in the wintertime should be a priority\, especially if you are someone that avoids being outdoors in the colder temps\, despises winter\, or shows symptoms of seasonal affective disorder. For these folks\, yoga is a perfect way to overcome the anxiety and depression that creeps in during the cold\, dark\, long months. \n\n\n\nThis class is accessible to anyone over 11 in moderately good health. No yoga experience is necessary. We will be moving\, to create heat from within\, and breathing\, to stoke that internal fire. The practice will begin and end with meditative breath-work in a restorative pose\, and in between\, we’ll salute the sun\, soften our effort\, and strengthen our mind through a flowing sequence of asanas (poses). \n\n\n\nJoin us on 3/2 at 12pm EDT online or at Yoga East in Kittery\, ME.  \n\n\n\n\nSign up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMake a donation:\n\n\n\nPlease note that this yoga event is a donation-based class in support of the 3rd Annual Rett’s Roost Behold the Cold Polar Plunge happening the following day (please donate online or bring cash or check made out to Rett’s Roost to class). All funds raised will be used to help enrich the lives of families facing childhood cancer and child loss by providing them with peer support and therapies at our healing retreats. Donations are not required by families experiencing childhood cancer or child loss. \n\n\n\n\nDonate\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out how you can participate in the Polar Plunge too! Our community will be jumping into the ocean on March 3rd at 11am in Ogunquit (or any cold body of water near you). \n\n\n\n\nBehold the Cold
