Rett’s Roost Heart-quarters – Ogunquit, ME
Our second bereavement retreat of the summer is for families with children old enough to really understand about the death of their sibling.
At Rett’s Roost’s bereavement retreats, we hope to help parents and siblings open their hearts again to life and love after the traumatic loss of a child with cancer. When we lost Everett to cancer, we felt the need to befriend other families that had also lost a child. We felt comfort knowing we weren’t alone in this harrowing new journey as bereaved parents.
This retreat runs from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning so it provides more than two full days of therapeutic support and connecting with others. Besides allowing plenty of time to relax, we offer supportive, optional activities to connect with others and to heal within. The programming will be geared toward families with kids older than 9 years old and their parents.
Each family will have their own bedroom (bathrooms are often shared). There is a hot tub available on-site and transit to the beach one day. Rett’s Roost staff will be providing delicious, healthy meals and snacks. We’ll be offering grief support, yoga, art, music, and outdoor adventures for both parents and children. Also, get a massage, energy treatment, and professional outdoor family portraits taken.
